This fall, I had the pleasure of photographing a truly unique and intimate wedding at the picturesque Lake Arrowhead Golf Course in Wisconsin. The couple, Carson and Jada, were drawn to my approach of letting them celebrate their love in a way that felt authentic to them, unburdened by traditional expectations.
The setting was nothing short of enchanting, with the fall foliage painting the landscape in warm colors that created a breathtaking backdrop for the celebration. The lush, deep greens of the golf course and trees were interspersed with red and orange fall colors which really stood out. Lake Arrowhead Golf Course provided the perfect blend of natural beauty and a tranquil atmosphere, setting the stage for a wedding that would be personal, memorable and above all, truly romantic.
Videography
One of the standout features of this wedding was the incorporation of videography, where the groom, Carson, took on the role of narrator. This added a deeply personal touch to the event, allowing the couple to share their love story in their own words. As I captured each moment through my lens, I couldn’t help but feel the genuine connection between Carson and Jada, their love story unfolding with every frame.
Drone Photography
They also added their own modern and dynamic element to the day by including aerial photography using a drone. Using the drone is becoming one of my favorite wedding activities since I became FAA certified. It allowed us to capture sweeping views of Lake Arrowhead and the surrounding landscape, providing a unique perspective that traditional photography might have missed. The drone shots showcased the beauty of the venue and also emphasized the intimacy of the ceremony against the vast, natural backdrop.
The ceremony itself was a testament to the couple’s desire to do things their own way. They exchanged heartfelt vows under a simple yet elegant arch, surrounded by close friends and family. The atmosphere was filled with love, authenticity and lots of fun! A true reflection of Carson and Jada’s personalities.
Reception
Following the ceremony, we took advantage of the stunning golf course for a photo session, capturing the couple in candid moments of joy and quiet reflection, as well as including their nearest and dearest. The drone continued to be used, allowing us to explore creative angles and capture the landscape from a different point of view.
As the sun set over Lake Arrowhead, casting a warm glow on the horizon, the couple and their guests moved indoors for their reception. I love this part of a wedding day when the evening is filled with laughter, heartfelt toasts, celebrations of love, plus lots and lots of dancing and fun. These moments are when I capture my most heartfelt photographs: when the couple and guests have let themselves go and forgotten that the camera is there. The raw emotion and joy is hard to replicate in any other situation.
Carson and Jada’s wedding is a demonstration of the beauty of letting couples carve their own path. By embracing their uniqueness and incorporating modern elements like drone photography and personalized narration, we created a visual story that will forever be a cherished reminder of Carson and Jada’s one-of-a-kind love story.
